These issues occurred during the charging or non-charging period.That's a swollen battery. I've seen only a handful of these, lastly mine. It was under warranty so I sent it in, they swapped the battery for free, as expected. You should stop using the phone asap and have the battery changed. I deal with the lipo/lion batteries daily and they're no joke, they genuinely can burn a house down.

Freezing/lag after Power saving mode is enabled. To disable Power saving mode, go to Settings > Battery > Power saving mode / Ultra power saving mode. Keeping the battery level above 20% is also recommended. If Power saving mode is on or the battery level is too low, the device will turn off features to prolong your battery life.
High probability that it's a swollen battery. Had a colleague who dropped her laptop down the stairs and the laptop inflated like a bubble, wouldn't even sit flat on a table, just like your phone. Google "phone battery explosion" and you'll see what could happen to it if something punctures it or if you press too hard on it.
